Anurag Kashyap Reacts To Abhay Deol's Comments That He Is a Liar And a Toxic Person

Anurag Kashyap responded to Abhay Deol's comments that he was "a liar" and "a toxic person" during a recent interview by saying that he was willing to apologise once again. They worked on the 2009 cult hit Dev D. The film is a modern interpretation of Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay's well-known book Devdas. In a 2020 interview, Anurag described working with Abhay as a "painfully tough" experience.

Abhay is now starring in the Netflix web series Trial By Fire. In the series he portrays a bereaved father who loses his two children in the 1997 Uphaar cinema fire tragedy. His performance has received praise. Speaking in interviews, the actor said that during filming Dev D, Anurag had lied about his attitude and privilege as a Deol. He had declared that he would warn people about the director since he was "certainly a liar and a toxic person." Anurag responded to Abhay's remarks by saying that he had already apologised to him but was prepared to do so once more. He said, “It is okay if that is how he feels. Everyone has his own version of the truth. Maybe he felt attacked about what I had spoken about him earlier. I have personally apologised to him for hurting his feelings.” He continued the actor's present endeavour, in which he has delivered a strong performance, should now be the subject of attention. "What I said was what he was [like] in the past. We all evolve with time. He has done a great job in [Trial by Fire]. I think it is time to celebrate his strong performance rather than playing the ping-pong of who said what.” Alaya F and Karan Mehta star in Anurag's upcoming movie, Almost Pyaar alongside DJ Mohabbat, which hits theatres on February 3. The movie received excellent reviews upon release. It failed to perform well at the box office. The musical made its global premiere at the Marrakech International Film Festival in November 2022. Zee Studios present the film under the Good Bad Films production. He collaborated once more with Taapsee Pannu last year on the science fiction thriller Dobaaraa.
