Anurag Kashyap is one of the first filmmakers to venture into the emerging digital arena of entertainment. In 2018, he came up with the web series Sacred Games. He made it along with another acclaimed director Vikramaditya Motwane. The season one of this series was a huge hit and gained a lot of critical acclaims. In the very same year, he directed a segment in Netflix's anthology film Lust Stories. In 2019, Kashyap came up with season 2 of Sacred Games. Co-directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, this season failed to impress the viewers. Earlier this year, Kashyap directed one of the segments of another Netflix anthology film Ghost Series. Now, he is back with a solo venture. His directorial film Choked will premiere on Netflix on the 5th of June. The first look poster of this film got unveiled earlier today. Saiyami Kher and Roshan Mathews played the lead roles in this film.
Sharing the first look poster, Anurag Kashyap wrote, "Too little, and it'll leave you starving. Too much, and it'll choke you. What is it? #Choked premieres 5th June, only on Netflix." Speaking in an interview, Kashyap said that it is a special film that is close to his heart. It is the story of a middle-class housewife who finds money flowing out of her kitchen sink every night. How this phenomenon changes her life is the crux of it.
Saiyami Kher termed this film as a lifetime experience for her. Roshan Mathew, who played the husband, said that his character is a complex one that has a unique kind of sensitivity.
