National Award-winning filmmaker Aparna Sen’s film ‘The Rapist’ is all set for the World Premiere. The film will feature at 26th Busan International Film Festival. The film will have its premiere on October 7 at the festival. The film has been nominated for the Kim Jiseok Award in ‘A Window on Asian Cinema section. The film stars Konkona Sen Sharma, Arjun Rampal and Tanmay Dhanania in lead roles.
In the film, Konkona plays the role of a rape survivor. Her character shows the turmoil a rape victim goes through. This includes the lengthy and complex legal battles they face after becoming the victims of a horrible crime. The film stars Arjun Rampal in the role of her spouse.
‘The Rapist’ finished shooting in April 2021. Applause Entertainment and Quest Films produced the film.
“The film explores not only how it affects the survivors and perpetrators of the crime, but also delves into how one’s idealistic views are drastically altered when the truth hits uncomfortably close to home;” Sen said. She also added that what drew her to the story was the “psychology of the three protagonists.”
Bangladeshi filmmaker Mostofa Sarwar Farooki has also been nominated for the Kim Jiseok Award. This is for his latest feature, “No Land′s Man” starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
