Star actress Kangana Ranaut donned the director's hat for the first time, for the 2019 film Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi. She co-directed the film, along with Krish Jagarlamudi. Now, Kangana is all set to make her first film as an independent director. She will be helming and acting in an upcoming film titled Aparajitha Ayodhya, based on the Ram Mandir case.
Kangana stated that it is her most ambitious project yet. KV Vijayendra Prasad is scripting this film. This is his third collaboration with Kangana, after Manikarnika and Thalaivi. Speaking in an interview with the Bombay Times, Kangana confirmed that she is directing the project. She said that she had no plans of directing it initially. She wanted to act and produce it. However, the script wrote by Vijayendra Prasad was set in a historical setup and needs a large canvas. As Kangana already has an experience of directing a historical film, she decided to take up the job for this movie as well.
Kangana said that she is not nervous for helming the movie. As she worked from scratch, she knows how the project should shape up. She has everything clear on her mind. That is not the case of Manikarnika, where she took up the project in midway. The shoot of Aparajitho Ayodhya will go on floors by the end of this year. Currently, Kangana is shooting for Thalaivi. Directed by AL Vijay, this film features Aravind Swamy and Prakash Raj in the other lead roles.
