Arjun Kapoor On His Debut Into Production And Direction; I Don’t Want To Be One Of Those Who Gives A Half-Baked Project

Arjun Kapoor is currently one of Bollywood's most financially successful actors. Alongside Parineeti Chopra, Arjun made his acting debut in 2012 with the sleeper smash Ishaqzaade. He thereafter built a reputation with roles in movies like 2 States, Half Girlfriend, Gunday, and Ki & Ka. With his tireless efforts and commitment, he has effectively carved out a place for himself. The actor most recently appeared in Mohit Suri's Ek Villain Returns, where he received appreciation for his mesmerizing portrayal of Gautam Mehra.

Arjun Kapoor was questioned by Himesh Mankad about his ideas on pursuing directing in the future after learning that he had previously directed a popular video starring Varun Dhawan as well. Contradictory, Arjun said that Varun had actually guided him and that he was a terrible director. He assigned me the worst part. I was played. I was killed off in the movie after he made me out to be its main character. Although he appears to be an innocent child, Varun is not.

When Arjun came back to the subject, he responded, "I would like to direct. It's extremely likely that I'll produce and direct the film. In fact, I believe that I would have actively begun production work if this epidemic hadn't occurred and we hadn't been under lockdown for two to three years. I don't want to take it for granted since it's something that means a lot to me. I can already feel myself gaining time and momentum, so starting in the next year, I'll work towards that. Since I am also pursuing acting opportunities, I am not providing a deadline. I want to follow that to see where it goes. And I find the process enjoyable. Although production may start, direction will still need some time off. I don’t want to be one of those who gives a half-baked project. And it's a path I want to take. The hardest task is being a director, so I don't want to undercut that or do something special for fun. I eat, sleep, and dream movies. Perhaps certain storylines don't fit me as an actor. However, as an actor or director, they undoubtedly will.

Arjun Kapoor last appeared professionally in Mohit Suri's Ek Villain Returns, which also starred Tara Sutaria, John Abraham, and Disha Patani. He is getting ready for the release of The Lady Killer, which stars Bhumi Pednekar. The actor is also a part of Vishal Bharadwaj's Kuttey, a dark comedy that is slated to include a large ensemble cast.
