Director Chandrashekhar Yeleti is best known for coming with out-of-the-box ideas for each of his films. Right from his first film Aithe to the last one Manamantha, Yeleti made sure to come up with a novel concept with each of his films. One of the memorable movies in the career of this prolific director is Anukokunda Oka Roju. Featuring Charmy Kaur, Shashank and Jagapathi Babu in the lead roles, this film became a huge success at the box office. Today is its 15th release anniversary. Anukokunda Oka Roju deals with the story of a singer named Sahasra. Once, she attends a party and passes out later. She wakes up the day after. What happened on that day forms the main crux of the story. The film keeps you on the edge of the seat right from the beginning to the end. It was a path-breaking film at that time. Charmy's performance as an innocent girl impresses us the most. Jagapathi Babu and Shashank's roles also entertain us.
The music of the film composed by MM Keeravani. All the songs of the movie were chartbusters. Songs Evaraina Chustunnara, Righto Lefto, and Needalle Tharumuthundi remained on the top of the charts that year. Upon the release, Anukokunda Oka Roju gained positive reviews and emerged as a surprise hit at the box office. It was later remade in Hindi as Sunday. The film won two Nandi Awards and one Filmfare Award.
