As hit-machine Boyapati Srinu celebrates his birthday today, here is a look back into his career

Telugu cinema is going through a transition phase. New-age filmmakers are coming with new-wave cinema. This is slowly diminishing the number of commercial masala films that get made every year. Only a few filmmakers are successfully managing to deliver super-hit masala entertainers. One of those directors is Boyapati Srinu. Right from his first film Bhadra to his recent one Vinaya Vidheya Rama, Boyapati was loyal to commercial cinema. He celebrates his birthday today and on this occasion, here is a look back into his career.

Boyapati started off his directorial career with the 2005 film Bhadra. Starring Ravi Teja and Meera Jasmine in the lead roles, this family entertainer became a blockbuster at the box office. Boyapati further continued his success streak with his second film Tulasi. Then he scored the biggest hit in his career with the 2010 film Simha. This film also brought back Nandamuri Balakrishna into success form. 2012 film Dammu remained as a hiccup in his career. But Boyapati bounced back soon by scoring two consecutive blockbusters with Legend and Sarrainodu. His 2017 film Jaya Janaki Nayaka also remained as a success at the box office.

Boyapati's last film Vinaya Vidheya Rama got released in 2019. It remained as a flop at the box office. He is now working with Nandamuri Balakrishna for an untitled project. This is the third film in the combination of Boyapati and Balayya, after Simha and Legend. The film has completed the first schedule of its shoot. The makers are planning to release this film towards the end of this year.
