Basil Joseph celebrated his major win at the Asian Academy Awards with his Minnal Murali star Tovino Thomas, as well as the cast and crew of their coming project.
Without a doubt, Basil Joseph is one of the best directors working in Malayalam cinema today, who is said to create magic with actor Tovino. With the direct OTT release of Minnal Murali on Netflix, the skilled director gained enormous fame. Tovino Thomas plays the lead role in the film. It is the first domestic superhero movie ever made by the Malayalam cinema industry. The renowned Asian Academy Awards 2022 was held in Singapore last week. Basil Joseph made Mollywood proud by taking home the Best Director award.
Interestingly, the renowned director attended the Asian Academy Awards with his close friend and the star of Minnal Murali, Tovino Thomas, and the cast and crew of their future picture. Basil Joseph is seen cutting the cake with his team as they applauded him in the photos the actor posted. Reportedly, Basil will be starring alongside Tovino Thomas in his next film that is now in production. He himself has proven as a skilled actor.
Tovino sent a heartfelt note to his close friend by posting photos of the celebrations. He wrote,
The superhero movie centers on two regular individuals from Kurukkan Moola. They gain superpowers after getting struck by the same lighting on a particular night. Jaison, a tailor with superhuman abilities decides to save the world. He adopts the persona of a fictional character named Minnal Murali to cover his self. But Shibu, the mistreated immigrant worker who has the same supernatural abilities, takes a darker turn. In the movie, Tovino played Jaison and Guru Somasundaram played Shibu.
It is official that there will be other chapters in the Minnal Murali franchise. After Basil Joseph completes his directorial starring Pranav Mohanlal, the sequel to the Minnal Murali series will begin production. It now has the working title Minnal Murali 2. It is all set to release by 2025. He is also discussing a future project with Fahadh Faasil.
