Asif Ali plays the role of police constable "Girishankar," in the film. The story of the Kooman takes place in a hilly village in the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border region. A tough police officer transfers to the police station and turns many people's lives upside down. The realisation that much of what was judged "normal" was not so normal makes the film poignant.
