Bachchan Pandey was at first scheduled as a remake of Ajith starrer movie Veeram but recent reports suggest that the previous plan has now changed and the new plot is to be a remake of the movie Jigarthanda.

Bollywood stars Akshay Kumar and Kriti Sanon were last seen together on-screen with their hit movie Housefull 4. Now the same cast, including producer Sajid Nadiadwala and director Farhad Samji will work together again for their next upcoming project Bachchan Pandey.

 
The movie was before, scheduled to be the official Hindi remake of Ajith starrer film Veeram. Recent reports state that the initial plans for the movie are now changed. Producer Sajid Nadiadwala has changed the plot of Bachchan Pandey and now it is to be a remake of another hit South movie Jigarthanda. The film was initially scheduled to begin shooting earlier this February. But it is now postponed by a few months because of Akshay Kumar's busy schedule with his other projects. Akshay Kumar is all set for his many upcoming releases which include movies Sooryavanshi and Laxmmi Bomb. Bachchan Pandey has also been making headlines as the filmmakers recently revealed the first look for the film.
 
Reports state that Sajid Nadiadwala and Farhad changed the script of the movie to be the Hindi remake of Jigarthanda. This remake has been in the works since last year after Sajid Nadiadwala bought the rights to the masala film. Reports also reveal that it was originally planned with a different cast which included Rajkummar Rao, Sanjay Dutt, and Kriti Sanon. Now, after making changes to the original script, Kriti and Akshay are cast in the lead roles. Kriti will play Siddharth's role from the original movie as she takes on the role of a director. Akshay will play Bobby Simha's character of a gangster. The filmmakers have also decided to keep any details about the movie under wraps as of now.
