Badshah's new song Genda Phool lands in copyright issues. the singer promised to do anything for the original singer

Star singer and rapper Badshah has recently released his new album single Genda Phool. Along with Badshah, heroine Jacqueline Fernandez has sizzled in the song. It was on the 26th of March and is trending on Youtube ever since. It was a mix of Bengali and Hindi lyrics. It included the lyrics of popular Bengali folk song Genda Phool. This has led to a severe backlash on Badshah for allegedly copying the song without giving credits to the original writer of the song. Bengali folk singer Ratan Kahar was the original writer of the song. He said that he wanted to sue Badshah but he couldn't due to his poor financial status. However, Badshah said that they have done enough research on the song before taking its rights. He added that he is willing to help Ratan Kahar in whatever way he can.

Badshah has also released an official statement on the issue. It read, "I would, first of all, like to thank each one of you that have loved and liked the song "Genda Phool" especially the appreciation from the Bengali community worldwide, that has made it into the chart-topper that it is currently trending Worldwide. On the 26th of March, I released a single called Genda Phool, which is a Hindi song with Bangla folk lyrics. A couple of days after the song release, I started getting feedback on my Social media that the Bengali lyrics are originally from the song "Boro Loker Beti Lo" that was penned by the Veteran Artist Shri Ratan Kahar. We had however done our due diligence before releasing the song, and nowhere on any copyright societies or on any of the previous reprises/ versions of the song was Mr. Ratan Kahar credited as lyricist. Information all across say that "Boro Loker Beti Lo" is a traditional/ Folk song from the Bauls of Bengal. Just for general information, Traditional songs are open for recreations/ reprises/ sampling globally."

"I have always believed there is nothing more vibrant and beautiful than our Indian culture, music, and languages. This is why I have, in spite of being a commercial artist, always tried to include elements from my India roots in my music and present it to the world with the opportunities that I have. Genda Phool is my attempt at presenting the gorgeous melody of the Bengali Language and the forgotten instrument Dotara, packaged in a commercial song to make it consumable for people not just in India but across the world. In fact, to retain authenticity, we have gotten the Otara played by one of the veteran instrumentalists of Bengal, Tapas Roy. The lyrics have also been sung by the super-talented vocal artist Payal Dev who is Bengali herself, to do justice to the linguistics," he added.

Meanwhile, Genda Phool is getting tremendous response from the music lovers. Until now, it has crossed 73.2 million views on Youtube. It is also trending on all the major music platforms. Badshah's voice accompanied by Jacqueline's glamour worked big time for the song. Sneha Shetty Kohli has directed the song. Sony Music India has bought the audio rights of the song
