Since the release of Pati Patni Aur Woh’s trailer, the film has received serious backlash on social media because Kartik Aaryan as Chintu Tyagi is delivering a dialogue that jokes about marital rape. The dialogue is: “Biwi se sex maang lein, toh hum bhikaari. Biwi ko sex mana kar dein, toh hum atyachaari aur kisi tarah jugaad laga ke uss se sex haasil kar lein na toh balaatkaari bhi hum hain." This translates to "If we ask our wives for sex we are termed as beggars. If we deny her sex, we are tyrants. And if we somehow manage to get sex from our wives then we become rapists."
The dialogue was not taken well and Twitter users called it regressive.
, who had in an interview earlier with IANS said that it is not a sexist film, has now apologized saying that they didn't intend to hurt anyone's sentiments. In an interview with Zoom TV, Bhumi said, "If we have hurt anybody’s sentiments, we are sorry, because that wasn’t the intention. But everybody who is involved in Pati Patni Aur Woh, does not belong to that school, does not belong to that thought process."
