Ayushmann Khurrana, Sanya Malhotra, Gajraj Rao and Neena Gupta in the lead roles, this film was a blockbuster at the box office. Now, a sequel got confirmed for this film. Titled as Badhai Do, this sequel features Rajkumar Rao and
Bhumi Pednekar in the lead roles. The shoot of this film will go on floors very soon. Harshavardhan Kulkarni, who helmed Hunterrr, will direct this film.
Badhaai Do will be a completely different story from Badhaai Ho. But there will be a common connecting point for both films. It will be a family comedy that will revolve around an unlikely relationship between the lead pair. Rajkumar Rao will play the role of a police officer based in Delhi. He will be the only male cop in a women-police station. Bhumi will essay the role of a school PT teacher. The film follows the relationship story of these two individuals. The film unit wants the second part to live up to the expectations of the first one. With a common point, the makers want to connect both the parts.
Junglee Pictures will bankroll the project. Speaking to Times of India, director Kulkarni said that he always admired the kind of films Junglee Pictures made. When they came up with a social comedy, he immediately agreed to do it. Kulkarni said that the tone of the film will be the same as Badhaai Ho, but with different stories and characters.
