Bollywood celebrities are in a bitter dispute over farmer protests after pop star Rihanna draws attention to the protests on Twitter.

The microblogging site, Twitter has the most bitter rivalries of late. On Tuesday night Rihanna took to Twitter and shared a news headline about the farmers' protests taking place in India. She tweeted out writing, “asked, "why aren’t we talking about this?! #FarmersProtest." This quickly divided the internet and many came in support of Rihanna’s message of highlighting the message of the protesting farmers. However, not everyone supports the stand taken by Rihanna.

Actress Kangana Ranaut for one had an extreme response to Rihanna’s tweet. Taking to her official Twitter account she wrote, “No one is talking about it because they are not farmers they are terrorists who are trying to divide India so that China can take over our vulnerable broken nation and make it a Chinese colony much like USA... Sit down you fool, we are not selling our nation like you dummies." On the other hand celebrities such as Richa Chaddha and Indian origin YouTubers, Lilly Singh hailed Rihanna for highlighting an important world issue. Previously international activist Greta Thunberg also expressed concern over the protests.
