Former Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has hit back at rumors that he will be starring in a Bollywood film. Dhoni, who is also the captain of Chennai Super Kings in the IPL, told India Today that cinema is never his field. Many cricketers have tried their hand in acting after retiring from cricket.
Dhoni has said that he will only act in commercials. Dhoni said that Bollywood is a difficult region and he cannot handle it and his field is cricket. He said; "You know Bollywood is not my cup of tea. As far as advertisements are concerned, I am happy to do them. When it comes to movies, I feel it's a very tough profession and very difficult to manage. I would let the film stars do it because they are good at it. I will stick to cricket. The closest I can come to acting is advertisements and nothing more than that."
The news that Dhoni will be acting in a movie has become strong with his retirement from international cricket. However, Dhoni said that he was happy with the way he acted in the commercials.
Many cricketers like Ajay Jadeja, Vinod Kambli, Brett Lee, Harbhajan Singh, and Sreesanth have acted in films. There were rumors that Dhoni would also make his film debut against this backdrop. Meanwhile, Irrfan Pathan is all set to make his film debut in Vikram starrer Cobra. Harbhajan Singh starrer Tamil Cinema Friendship was recently released.
Earlier, Dhoni's life had been made into a Bollywood movie. Sushant Singh Rajput played the role of Dhoni in the film.
