Superstars Manju Warrier and Mohanlal donated significant sums for relief efforts. The stars donated 5 lakhs and 10 lakhs respectively for the welfare of daily wage earners in the Mollywood industry. This includes cooks, cleaners and transport staff. In addition, Manju Warrier provided financial aid for 50 transgender citizens, as a means to arrange food and essential items. Most members of the transgender community in the state work in unorganized sectors. Lockdown in the wake of the virus spread puts their means of livelihood at risk as well. Manju provided help through NGO Dwayne, based in the state.
Many actors are sharing light-hearted moments on social media as well. The cast of the 2006 mega-hit Classmates 'reunited' via video conferencing today. Siblings Prithviraj and Indrajith Sukumaran along with co-stars Narain and Jayasurya shared screenshots of the virtual reunion via social media. Prithviraj captioned the picture "Classmates. Older and (hopefully) wiser" while Narain gave the caption "classmates social distancing".
Kumbalangi Nights star Anna Ben is also making use of the quarantine time. She is undergoing training in kickboxing. Reportedly, she is learning the combat sport in preparation for her next project. Details of the project are still under wraps. Her much-anticipated movie Kappela is set for release soon. The makers are yet to announce the date of release.
Unni Mukundan is also keeping himself busy these days. He recently shared a drawing on Instagram as he polished his sketching skills. "Staying safe and sketching it??", he captioned the drawing. He shared doodles done by young niece Akshara, as well, on Instagram.
