Bretman Rock responds to criticism for collaborating with James Charles

James Charles is well respected in the entertainment industry and has a handsome following. He is best known for his makeup-inspired videos.

But, 2019 witnessed drama between the star and his mentor, Tati Westbrook. The public soon turned against him. Westbrook stated that Charles used his fame to manipulate the sexuality of straight men.

Charles debunked these statements and his fanbase of 16 million subscribers stayed with him. But there are still many who are critics of the makeup mogul.

Many critics expressed disappointment after Charles collaborated for two separate videos with Bretman Rock. People took to Twitter to criticise the collaboration.

Rock defended their collab in a Tweet. He attached screenshots of the negative feedback in the tweet. His caption read. “First screen shot is from my post and second is from James’ post. Look at the difference in the energy... there’s so much hate coming from people who support me and I’m so disappointed, I understand and respect you guys’ opinions, but just don’t watch it, simple.”

But even Bretman Rock’s attempt to defend the collaboration could not get people on his side.

A user “Thicc-Fil-A” (@KingBunnyNoodle) commented saying. “You have two different fan bases Bretman. A lot of people who didn’t like James or were fed up unsubscribed and subscribed to you after countless scandals. How can you expect those same people to support a collab when they moved over to your channel to stay away from that.”

Another user “Manu” (@ManoelaFinotti) said. “Sorry, we just see how good of a person you are compared to James Charles,” another commented. “He doesn’t deserve to be your friend.”

Charles is yet to comment on the controversy. But, thus far he made a statement by retweeting Rock’s post.
