Chinmayi Sripaada miffed with Kamal Haasan for posing with #MeToo accused Vairamuthu
Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth, and others posed with #MeToo accused Vairamuthu at the statue unveiling ceremony today.
Lyricist Vairamuthu is a legendary poet who has earned a name for himself by displaying his prowess in penning songs and poems. However, in 2018, nearly 8 women including famous singer Chinmayi Sripaada called him out for his predatory behavior in the #MeToo movement.
While the women including Chinmayi have got robbed out of opportunities, Vairamuthi still continues to be the chief guest at several events. In fact, he is teaming up with AR Rahman and Mani Ratnam in their upcoming project Ponniyin Selvan.
On November 8, Kamal Haasan
unveiled the statue of legendary director K Balachander at the former's office in Alwarpet. Vairamuthu was one of the guests and posed with the two stars along with others.
Expressing her disgust, Chinamyi wrote on Instagram, " MeToo has ruined the lives of the men accused of sexual harassment” (FYI - I am referring to Vairamuthu here) The constant comment is accusing a man of molesting will ruin his life and career. And he can’t show his face outside. Vairamuthu has been a chief guest at multiple DMK events, IAS officer training academy events, Tamizh Language events, book launches and Industry events in this entire year. Nothing has happened to him. I got banned almost immediately. Justice meted out by the Tamil Nadu Film Industry’s biggies :) Party with the known molester ban the accuser.”
