Covid-19: Mohanlal learned his lesson for spreading fake information

Malayalam superstar Mohanlal is going viral in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak. He has faced a pang of huge guilt for spreading fake news on the social media platform. The social media was once abuzz with a lot of false news over about Prime Minister's call to clap and clang utensils for 5 minutes at 5 PM on Sunday. After the 14-long hour of Janatha curfew, he asked people to do so.

The PM's call is to exhibit team spirit and respect the medical authorities and different people. There were rumors on social media about this clap. The sounds created from clapping and banging utensils would create some kind of cosmic energy that would wipe out the coronavirus. Many believed it, along with Mohanlal.

“Clapping collectively is a huge process. The sound produced is like a mantram (chant) and there is a danger of many microorganisms and viruses getting destroyed. Let it all get destroyed. I request each person to cooperate,” Mohanlal stated at some stage in a telephonic interview with Manorama News.

“We will now not interact in spreading false information, and we will now not panic,” Mohanlal stated before in a cognizance video.

The misinformation went viral drawing the interest of the Press Information Bureau. “NO! The vibration generated through clapping collectively will NOT ruin #Coronavirus infection,” PIB tweeted to debunk the claim. Finally, Mohanlal learned a lesson from this issue. From then, he is being very careful about his every post on social media.
