Bollywood actor Sonu Sood has riled up his efforts in helping migrants in Mumbai to another gear. The Dabbang actor has organized many buses in the last few weeks for migrants who are desperately trying to reach their families in other states across the country. Sood has also provided these buses with adequate amounts of food and water to last through the entire journey.
Now the actor has launched a temporary helpline toll-free number for migrants in need to go home. The actor said that he was getting a lot of calls and could not reach out to everyone no matter how hard he tried. Sood has started the new toll-free number with a dedicated team to ensure that every migrant gets to go back home. The number is 18001213711.
Speaking to PTI Sonu Sood said, "I was getting a lot of calls... thousands of calls everyday. My family and friends were busy collecting the data then we realised we might miss out on a lot of people who we will not be able to approach us. So we decided to open this call centre, it is a toll free number."
"We have a dedicated team working on it, trying to reach out to maximum people and contact each and every person. We don't know how many people we will be able to help but we will try," he added.
Previously Union Minister of Textiles Smriti Irani thanked her friend Sonu Sood for his tireless work and efforts in helping the migrant community in this difficult time.
