Superstar Rajinikanth is enjoying the reception coming his way for his exceptional performance in his recently released film Darbar. Directed by AR Murugadoss, the film marks the comeback of Rajinikanth as a cop after 26 years. He was last seen as a police officer in Pandiyan which released in 1992.
Darbar hit the theatres in over 4000 screens across the world on January 9. Apart from Tamil, the film also released in Telugu and Hindi. In the film, several characters in the film made fun of Jayalalithaa’s close side Sasikala, who is currently in prison. Two scenes took a jibe at how she’s enjoying a free run in the prison.
These two scenes have rubbed off Sasikala in the wrong way who filed a case with the help of her lawyer. Following the court case, the makers have agreed to remove the controversial scenes. In fact, the two scenes were completely enjoyed by the audience who clapped and cheered.
The production house wrote, “In our "Darbar" film, particular words and dialogues having references to prisoners or inmates going out of jail or prison during their imprisonment term was only included with an intention of providing an entertainment to the audience and is not intended to refer to any specific individual or to offend anyone. However, since some of those particular words seemed to have hurt some people, we have hereby decided to remove the same from the film.”
