DD National recently surprised the entire country by bringing back Ramanand Sagar's original "Ramayana" on national television. Prakash Javadekar, the cabinet minister for Information and Broadcasting, announced the release of the cult classic show. Now, in an interview with Bollywood Life, Deepika Chikhalia, who played Sita in DD's Ramayana, has shared some interesting thoughts.
The tv actress said that she would like to see
Alia Bhatt playing the role of Sita and
Hrithik Roshan as Rama at some point in the future. Deepika also said that Ajay Devgan can play the role of Raavan as he would fit the role well. She added saying
Varun Dhawan would make a great Lakshman.
She said, "Sita was not a tall lady. Her head would reach exactly till Lord Ram’s chest. So, maybe someone like Alia Bhatt. I feel Hrithik Roshan would make for a good Lord Ram."
"Ajay Devgn will be excellent as Raavan. As far as Lakshman goes, I feel Varun Dhawan might be a good option, " she added.
Deepika recently appeared on the big screen in the Ayushmann Khurrana starrer "Bala". The film was a critical and financial success. Speaking about the return of Ramayana on national television, Deepika was quoted as saying, "Ramayan is a show for the soul. I feel millennials will have a different opinion after watching the first few episodes”.
Arun Govil, who played Rama in the original tv show, also emphasized the values set in Ramayana. He said, "At this time, it is very important for us to abide by the rules. Our Prime Minister used two very important words — sanyam (patience) and sankalp (resolution) — which come under maryada.... So, don’t go out unnecessarily, follow the lockdown. We should spend our time with our families and keep the house clean."
