Deepika Padukone casts her vote: Slams the speculations around her citizenship
With her post on social media attached with a selfie flaunting her inked finger, Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone clears the air on rumours around her citizenship. Deepika on Monday cast her vote for the Lok Sabha elections followed by the statement that she was a proud Indian.
The 33-year-old actress took to her official Twitter account to post a stern note saying: "Never has there been any doubt in my mind about who I am or where I'm from. So for those of you confused on my behalf... please don't be! Jai Hind! Proud to be an Indian go vote." Her went in reference to speculation about her citizenship since she was born in Copenhagen, Denmark.
On Monday afternoon, Deepika Padukone was spotted arriving at the polling booth under heavy security. Dressed casually, she posed for the paparazzi after her vote.
In a recent interaction with the media, Deepika was asked about her citizenship upon which she replied that she holds an Indian passport.
The actress is now all busy shooting for her next film 'Chhapaak' which reportedly narrates the story of Laxmi who overcame the social stigma around the acid attack victims and rose to fame with TV show she is hosting.
