Director Kabir Khan’s sports drama ’83 is set to hit theatres on April 10 this year. Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone will essay the role of former Indian cricket team captain Kapil Dev and Romi Bhatia respectively. Makers unveiled the look of all actors portraying cricket team members last month. Now, the makers have finally revealed Deepika’s look in the movie. The actress shared the picture on her Instagram account.
Deepika and Ranveer makeover depicts an uncanny resemblance with the former Indian Team captain and his entrepreneur wife. Deepika’s caption for the picture said. “To be able to play a small part in a film that captures one of the most iconic moments in sporting history has been an absolute honour.” Now, the fan pages shared some behind the scenes pictures, where the actress is wearing a wig and getting ready for the shoot.
Writing about her role in the film, Deepika said in her post, “I've seen very closely the role a wife plays in the success of her husband’s professional and personal aspirations in my mother and 83 for me in many ways is an ode to every woman who puts her husband’s dream before her own."
For those who are still unaware, ’83 is based on India’s win during the 1983 Cricket World Cup. It is a multi-starrer film with Pankaj Tripathi, Ammy Virk, Hardy Sandhu, and Sahil Khattar in pivotal roles.
‘83 completed the shoot in October, last year. The cast of the film flew to Dharamshala to get trained under professional cricketers like Kapil Dev and Mohinder Amarnath. Meanwhile, Deepika will star in the Hindi remake of Hollywood film The Intern. Rishi Kapoor is her co-star in the film.
