Delhi High Court Directs Removal Of False Information About Aaradhya Bachchan's Health From Youtube

The Delhi High Court has directed YouTube channels to remove all videos and images that spread false information about the health of Aaradhya Bachchan. Aaradhya is the daughter of Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan.

The court noted that every child is entitled to be treated with honor and respect. It said this regardless of their parent's celebrity status. The circulation of misleading information about a child's physical and mental health is completely intolerable by law. The court issued a summons to Google LLC and several entities operating YouTube channels. They were directed to comply strictly with the entire statutory regime, including IT Rules 2021. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology was also directed to block access to content uploaded by defendants. Defendants include Bollywood Time, Bollywood Chingari, Bolly Station HD, and Bollywood Station. Bollywood Shine, Bolly Pakora, Bolly Samosa, Bolly Ocean, and Hollywood Stars are other defendants. If Abhishek Bachchan brings any other video uploaded on the YouTube platform dealing with the physical health of Aaradhya to Google's attention, it will immediately take down the said URL. The suit was filed due to the violation of the right to privacy of the plaintiffs. Violation of privacy stands especially true for Aaradhya Bachchan, who is a minor child of only 11 years of age. The suit claimed that the defendants did not obtain any consent or have any right or license to use the plaintiffs' images or provide news. It provided this information to the public regarding Aaradhya's health or other aspects of her personal and private life of her. The court passed directions on interim application by the plaintiffs. It stated that there is a prima facie case in favor of the plaintiffs and against the defendants justifying the grant of ad interim relief. Dayan Krishnan submitted that the reputation of a public person has become child's play in the age of social media. This is resulting in a child having to suffer.
