This is the age of digital entertainment. Slowly, digital platforms will take a major share in releasing films directly to the homes of the audiences. Thus, many filmmakers and actors are starting to explore this arena. One such director is Vetrimaaran. This Tamil master-filmmaker has already shot for a segment in the upcoming Tamil anthology film of Netflix. Now, he is planning to go bigger. He is now aiming to make Vada Chennai 2 as a web series by retaining all the lead cast from the film. Vada Chennai featured star actors like Dhanush, Aishwarya Rajesh and Andrea Jeremiah in the lead role. If this happens, this will be the first Tamil web series to feature a big star cast.
Vetrimaaran revealed this news in a recent interview. Vada Chennai is a 2018 gangster drama that had a good run at the box office. Everyone thought that Vetrimaaran and Dhanush will come up with Vada Chennai 2 in their next collaboration. But surprisingly, they came up with Asuran, which was also a big hit at the box office. Currently, Vetrimaaran is making a film with Suri. Later, he will make a film with Suriya, titled Vaadivaasal. After completing these two projects, Vetrimaaran will begin the works of Vada Chennai 2.
Meanwhile, Dhanush is currently awaiting the release of his next film Jagame Thanthiram, which is being directed by Karthik Subbaraj. He is also shooting for Karnan under the direction of Maari Selvaraj. The Kodi actor has also signed films with young filmmaker Kartik Naren and Bollywood director Aanand L Rai.
