With all the theatres closed indefinitely, many small budget films have taken to digital releases with OTT platforms like Amazon Prime. The sudden lockdown has led to many producers opting for digital releases with no other alternative insight. Sources reveal that Amazon Prime offered to acquire the Nani and Sudheer Babu starrer V for a sum of Rs 18 crores. However, the film’s producer Dil Raju seems to have turned down the offer. Sources say that Dil Raju quoted a sum of Rs 35 crores. The Amazon Prime deal was essentially half the budget point that Dil Raju has invested for the film V. This is the main reason for the deal not going through.
V is a romantic thriller starring Nani, Sudheer Babu, Nivetha Thomas and Aditi Rao Hydari in the lead roles. Directed by Mohan Krishna Indraganti, the film shows Nani in a full-blown villain role. The film was to hit the theatres on 25th March earlier this year. However, owing to the coronavirus pandemic, the release now stands postponed. With no OTT deal, it seems like the film will have to wait for a theatrical release after the pandemic is dealt with.
On the work front, Dil Raju is producing Seenayya starring VV Vinayak who is making his acting debut. Dil Raju is also bankrolling the Allu Arjun starrer ICON. Sriram Venu is directing the film. Dil Raju is also stepping in to further produce Good Luck Sakhi. The budget for Keerthy Suresh’s Good Luck Sakhi was exceeding the limit for producers Shravya Varma and Sudheer Chandra. According to sources, Producer Dil Raju has stepped in to invest and finish Keerthy Suresh's Good Luck Sakhi.
