Artists from many industries are cooperating on numerous projects since productions from South cinema, such as RRR and KGF, have become popular globally. Fahadh Faasil, a Malayalam actor, appeared in the Telugu film Pushpa: The Rise (2021) and the Tamil film Vikram (2022). Farzi stars Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor and Tamil actor Vijay Sethupathi. Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK direct the series. It will release on February 10th. In the Prime Video web series, the former portrays a con man who Vijay's police officer pursues.
Numerous performers from the south have starred as mainstream heroes in Bollywood. The same cannot be said about the leading men of Hindi cinema. Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, and R Madhavan have played prominent roles in Hindi films. Actresses such as Taapsee Pannu and Tamannaah Bhatia have landed significant roles in south cinema. But men have not fared as well.
Krishna DK said, “There are a lot of villains in Tamil and Telugu who are from the north. All our actors here have gone there and played bad guys including Manoj Bajpayee.” According to the filmmaker, actors who transfer to south cinema typically play nasty men. Sonu Sood and Mukul Dev are two recent actors who have played villains.
Pathaan, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, has grossed over 800 crores at the global box office. The film has performed better in Hindi-speaking areas. Pathaan made over 20 crores in Andhra Pradesh in its first week, while it earned around 10 crores in Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
