Director Shankar blames Lyca Production for Indian 2 delay

Director Shankar and Lyca Productions joined hands for Indian 2, which features Kamal Haasan in the lead role. Indian 2 is a sequel to the film of the same name, which released in 1996. Indian 2's shoot came to an abrupt halt after a crane crash accident claimed three lives in February 2020. Lyca Productions filed a case against director Shankar accusing the filmmaker of announcing different projects before completing Indian 2. In his counter-petition, director Shankar said that he is not a reason for the delay of Indian 2 and blamed Lyca Productions for it. Earlier, Shankar and Lyca Productions had a disagreement after the filmmaker overshot the film's budget.

The court order from Madras High Court had asked Shankar and Lyca Productions to bring an amicable solution by sorting out their differences. In his counter-petition, director Shankar said that Kamal Haasan had a make-up allergy after which the film's shooting was stopped due to the crane accident. He also revealed that he is not responsible for the delay and cited the Covvid-19 crisis and other reasons for it. Director Shankar also revealed that he needs to reshoot the portions featuring Vivekh as he passed away recently.
