Nithiin’s upcoming release, Maestro had wrapped up shoot a couple of days and is presently in final leg of post-production. For some reason, the makers opted to skip theatrical release and sell off the direct to digital rights to the highest bidder.
The latest we hear is that OTT giant Disney+Hotstar has acquired the direct to digital rights of Maestro by shelling out big bucks.
Disney+Hotstar is said to have paid in excess of Rs 40 crores for the direct to digital rights of Maestro. This is one of the biggest ever deals for any Telugu film till date. The film will be available for streaming on Disney+Hotstar in the next couple of month. An official announcement on the release date will be made in the due course.
Maestro is a remake of Bollywood super hit Andhadhun and it is directed by Merlapaka Gandhi. Nabha Natesh and Tamannaah are reprising the roles of Radhika Apte and Tabu in the remake. Mahati Swara Sagar is composing the music for the film. Nithiin’s home banner Sresht Movies is bankrolling it. Hadn’t it been for Covid second wave, the film would have released in theatres on 11th of June. But that is not the case now as it is gearing up for direct OTT release.
