South Hero Karthi whose recent outing 'Kaithi' ('Khaidi' in Telugu) became a decent hit, joined hands with 'Drishyam' fame director Jeethu Joseph and came up with 'Thambi'.
Titled as 'Donga' in Telugu, Karthi's real-life sister-in-law Jyothika played his sister in the movie and Sathyaraj appeared as their father in the movie. Amid high expectations, the movie has finally hit the theatres on 20th December and has been receiving a decent response from the audience. However, many have been claiming that the runtime of the movie is a little too long. So, as per the latest reports, the makers have trimmed the movie by 10 minutes and have re-released the trimmed version of the film. The makers did not want to trim the film in the beginning but after understanding the response of the audiences and critics, they did this to attract the crowds again for repeat watching. We are yet to come to a conclusion on this strategy but let us hope it works out well.
Suraj Sadanah made his production debut with this film. '96' fame Govinda Vasantha composed tunes for this film. We have to wait and see how far the trimmed version is going to boost up the collections.
