Today saw the premiere of the suspenseful movie Ek Villain Returns, which is anticipated to get off to a strong start. The Mohit Suri-directed film, which stars John Abraham, Arjun Kapoor, Disha Patani, and Tara Sutaria, is said to have a lot of surprises and plot twists. It's interesting to note that this characteristic first appears during the disclaimer slates at the opening of the movie.
There are several names listed under "Special Thanks." But two names stand out: the successful filmmaker Rohit Shetty and the renowned author Kanika Dhillon, known for her work on the upcoming films Raksha Bandhan and Dunki as well as the 2018 films Kedarnath and Rashmi Rocket. Because they had never collaborated with Mohit Suri before, these two names stand out. Additionally, their area of cinema is distinct from Mohit Suri's.
The production company run by Rohit Shetty, Rohit Shetty Productions, had signed Mohit Suri. The plan was for Mohit to direct the movie using Rohit and Ek Villain Returns' script. It was not intended to fall under the Ek Villain brand, though. Ekta Kapoor, the film's producer, was searching for a sequel script at the same time. The sequel to Mohit Suri's 2014 super-hit movie, which starred Sidharth Malhotra, Shraddha Kapoor, and Riteish Deshmukh, is well suited for the script, which she chanced to read when reading Rohit Shetty's upcoming picture.
Interestingly, Ekta Kapoor recently spoke about this episode in a press interaction when asked if Ek Villain Returns is copied from a Korean film, as alleged by a self-styled critic. Speaking highly of Rohit, she said that when she asked him for Ek Villain Returns’ script, he “very sweetly, like good brothers do, gave me the script back and said that's yours.”
As for Kanika Dhillon, she has written additional dialogues in the sequel. Hence, she got a mention under ‘Special Thanks.
