Eros International is one of the major production houses in India. It is a big content generator that is active in both theatrical and OTT business. But from the last couple of years, Eros has been producing very few films due to its financial losses. Now, it has got a big relief as Los Angeles based Hollywood production house STX Entertainment announced a merger with it. With this merger, Eros will now be back in the full-scale movie and OTT content production in India.
Eros has announced the news officially by tweeting, "Eros International and STX Entertainment to Combine, Creating a Global Entertainment Content, Digital Media & OTT Powerhouse." This news came a breath of relief for Bollywood in these tough times. Eros is a big production house in the country and it had faced a tough time due to the huge financial crisis. Thus, this merger will give it a new momentum in bankrolling big-budget flicks in the coming days. Eros will announce its future film lineup once the ongoing lockdown gets over.
Eros also owns the OTT platform Eros Now. It has produced a few original shows and films on this streaming platform. It is planning to bankroll more interesting Indian content in the future. We can also expect the shows produced by STX Entertainment to land upon Eros Now. On the production front, Eros's next release is Haathi Mere Saathi. Directed by Prabhu Solomon, this film features Rana Daggubati in the lead role. It is a multi-lingual film which will have a simultaneous release in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil.
