Actress Navya Nair's name has been the subject of various comments on social media due to a recent viral TV programme video. Later her participation in the Prime Minister's programme was also discussed. At a time when the caste tails of film stars are being discussed again, Navya Nair is reacting to it.
Navya opened her mind in an interview given to the media regarding the promotion of her upcoming film, 'Janaki Jaane'. Navya Nair says that she did not adopt the name Navya Nair, and her real name is still Dhanya Veena.
"This is the name given by Sibi Uncle and others when I came to the cinema. I entered the cinema when I was studying in the 10th grade. Navya Nair was the name given by the filmmakers at that time. I didn't have a voice then. Even if I change my name now, I will still be Navya Nair in everyone's heart;" says Navya.
"Now children who see me in TV programmes, etc., call me Navya Nair. It is not understood by the caste because the name has become that. Now if the caste tail can be cut, my official name is Dhanya Veena. It is so in all documents. There is no caste in it. And how to cut that." Navya says in the interview that she does not think that the caste name is bad.
Navya Nair starrer Janaki Jaane's second teaser was released recently. The teaser hints that the film will focus on humour. Janaki is played by Navya. Saiju Kurup also plays the role of Unni Mukundan. This is also a film written and directed by Anish Upasana.
