In a recent interview, actress Fatima Sana Shaikh talked openly about her fight with epilepsy, which has previously caused her to spend days in the hospital.

In recognition of National Epilepsy Awareness Month in November, the actress shared her experiences living with epilepsy and how she disguised her diagnosis out of concern that she would not be cast in movies. The actress expressed her deep concern for the stigmas associated with the neurological disorder and said she didn't want people to perceive her as being "weak."

In an interview with a newspaper, she revealed, "I was worried that if I disclosed this to anyone, I would not get hired. I didn't want to acknowledge that I have a neurological disorder either."

Fatima further disclosed that she had seizures while working on set and that she had given instructions regarding appropriate protocol.

The actress is now in the filming stages of Meghna Gulzar's "Sam Bahadur," in which she will portray Indira Gandhi. Vicky Kaushal and the actress will appear together on-screen for the first time.
