Film Academy donated 6 million dollars to fight COVID-19

As each day goes by, the coronavirus pandemic spreads like wildfire. Millions are fighting the virus. Some people are fighting medical complications while others are battling economic hardships. Almost all major countries are under lockdown. People living from paycheck to paycheck are facing problems. The entertainment industry is one of the worst-hit industries. The Academy of Movement Image Arts and Sciences has donated a sum of 6 million dollars. The donation is to assist employees in need.
 
The donation is to help movement-image workers and their households. Workers like movement-image workers are fighting economic hardship due to a lack of permanent jobs.
 
The Academy of Movement Image Arts and Sciences made the announcement of Friday. The donation will also provide aid to some institutions. Institutions that focus on supporting diverse filmmakers, reported Variety.
 
Additionally, the statement also mentioned that $4 million will go to The Actors Fund and Motion Picture & Television Fund. This will support the behind-the-scenes workers as well as performers.
 
"As we face a pandemic, it's incumbent upon us to help those in the motion picture community who are suffering. By contributing financially to The Actors Fund, MPTF, and the Academy Basis’s fantastic grants program, we can assist present our prolonged household with desperately wanted help,” Academy president David Rubin mentioned.
 
According to the WHO, the pandemic has claimed over 45000 individuals in line with the WHO. Many individuals and institutions across the globe are coming forward to help.
