Screenwriter and actor Ranji Panicker says that there are few heroine-centered movies in Malayalam. Ranji Panicker says that cinema is a huge industry that depends on male actors. He added that it is an important question whether women have the same stardom as heroes.
“Stardom is a big marketing factor in the movies that make it to the box office. The stardom and commercial potential of the protagonists contribute to a large extent to the theatrical success of the film and its sales in other areas.
The important question in this regard is whether female actors have the same stardom as heroes. The film is a huge industry that depends on male actors. The film generally travels on such a track. That's probably why there are so many movies with heroism;” Renji Panicker said in an interview.
Ranji Panicker also talks about why his films are being criticized.
Ranji Panicker adds; “Criticism also means that the film was noticed. The best thing about it is that we will find the courage to face criticism and that criticism will help us to evaluate, unpack and renew ourselves.”
Ranji Panicker added that there is no point in insisting that there should be classic movies every year. He added only a handful of classic movies will happen in a century.
