Earlier today, Minister Saji Cherian announced the 52nd Kerala State Film Awards. Revathi won the Best Female Actor Award this year. The award was given for her performance in the film Bhoothakalam.
With this award, Revathi marks her first State Film Award in her 39 year acting career. Revathi played the role of Shane Nigam's mother in the film directed by Rahul Sadasivan. The name of the character is Asha.
According to the jury, Revathi deserves the award for her outstanding performance in the film. Jury said that Revathi captures the subtle expressions of a woman's emotional turmoil, haunted by memories of a past filled with depression and loneliness.
The film was released on January 21st via Sony Live. The film is about the mysterious events that take place in the life of a mother and son. The film also discusses the importance of mental health.
Meanwhile, two people shared the Best Male Actor award this time. Biju Menon shared the Best Actor (male) Award with Joju George. Biju Menon won the Best Actor (male) Award for his role in the film Aarkariyam. Joju George won Best Actor (male) for his performances in Nayattu, Thuramukham, Madhuram and Freedom Fight.
The film Avasavyuham has been selected as the Best Film. Meanwhile, Nishiddho and Chavittu shared the award for the Second best Film. Dileesh Pothen won the Best Director Award for the film is Joji. Vineeth Sreenivasaan’s Hridayam won the Most Popular Film Award.
