Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali is into controversies once again. His upcoming film Gangubai Kathiawadi has been a topic of discussion in the Maharashtra Vidhanshaba session on Monday. Earlier too, his films Ramleela, Bajirao Mastani, and even Padmaavat faced a backlash from people of different communities.
Not just this film, but another film called Kamathipura, a Meera Chopra starrer has also become a topic there. Wondering why? Let us tell you.
An MLA at the Vidhan Sabha said that the content of both these projects is offensive and hurting the sentiments of many. He said that these two projects have resulted in a law-and-order scenario in Nagpada (Mumbai).
“ Hotstar is going to telecast, Kamathipura, which is a very bad serial and the additional police commissioner had put a stay on the telecast. I request you to not let it telecast,” he said. He further added, “ Gangubai Kathiawadi, showcases Kamathipura in a bad light. Kamathipura in the 50’s was different from what it is today, and the girls from there have made it big in their lives and have taken up some great roles in society. He requested the Home Minister to make sure the content and the perspective in these films are changed. The government is yet to make its statements about this.
