Acclaimed actress Taapsee Pannu is going to kickstart 2020 with her first release of the year, Thappad. Directed by Anubhav Sinha, this film is all set to hit the screens on the 28th of this month. Ahead of the film's release, the government of Madhya Pradesh has waived off the tax on it, due to its socially relevant subject.
According to the official sources, the Government has ordered the theatre owners of both multiplexes and the single screens to waive off the SGST on the film. The CGST will remain as usual for all the tickets.
Thappad deals with the story of an upper-middle-class woman whose life takes a drastic turn after her husband slaps her. The film comes with the statement that a husband cannot slap his wife even once for any given reason. This is the second film in the combination of Taapsee and Anubhav Sinha, after the 2018 film Mulk. Already, the trailer has got a terrific response from the audience and high expectations are riding on the film. Having no other big Hindi releases on the same day and theatres being dull without any hit film, are also helping Thappad to get good pre-bookings ahead of its release.
