The rising rage among the audience for favouritism towards actors belonging to film families does not seem to be coming to an end anytime soon. While the debate around nepotism has outspread like wildfire more after Sushant Singh Rajput's demise, many Bollywood celebrities like Alia Bhatt, Karan Johar and Ananya Panday have fallen prey to scornful criticism.
The latest name that has succumbed to bear the ire of masses is Janhvi Kapoor. Dharma Productions' recent release Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl starring Janhvi Kapoor in the lead role has been dragged down by the opposers resulting in a lower than 5 IMDb rating. The movie which released on Netflix on August 12 is constantly facing a backlash since the trailer dropped on YouTube.
Despite opening up with rave reviews and garnering applause for courageous performances by Janhvi Kapoor and Pankaj Tripathi, the movie has till now registered 4.6 IMDb rating out of 10 with more than 4000 votes. IMDb which once used to be an authoritative source of providing true reviews of the movie is now turning up to be biased propaganda.
In solidarity with unneeded trolling for nepo kids, there are pseudo reviewers who are rating the movie bad and spilling their grudge on the website. They are probably the same bunch of people with a substandard crowd who took the same route at the time of “Dil Bechara” release but in a contrary.
Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl is inspired by true events which unfolded in the life of gallantry Shaurya Vir Award winner Gunjan Saxena who was one of the first female pilots to fly in combat. The movie is streaming on Netflix.
