If you take out the history books of Great Indian films, there will be at least one Ram Gopal Varma's film for sure. He is a maverick director who has delivered some classic works in Telugu and Hindi cinema. Although he is off the track now and is concentrating more on controversies, he used to be an inspiration in the past. His earlier films are still an inspiration for many aspiring filmmakers. Ram Gopal Varma celebrates his birthday today and on this occasion, let us have a look back into his career.
Ram Gopal Varma was born on April 7th, 1962. He started off his film career by directing the 1989 film, Shiva. Starring Nagarjuna in the lead role, this film was a blockbuster at the box office. It was not just a commercial success but also gained a cult status among the audiences. Shiva is still considered as one of the finest works of Telugu cinema. It has put the name of RGV in public. After Shiva, he has never looked back in his career. He delivered a series of hits like Kshana Kshanam, Drohi, Raathri, Gaayam, Rangeela, Satya, Prema Katha, Company, Bhoot, Sarkar and Raktha Charitra.
From the past decade, Ram Gopal Varma lost his charm and is focussing more on controversies and controversial films. He is not apologetic for that as he lives the way he wants to be. But his fans, as well as the audiences, are waiting for him to deliver one more classic. Let's hope that he will make it soon. Till then, Happy Birthday RGV.
