Before all the Hungama about Arjun Reddy, Vijay Deverakonda did a cutesy love story called Pelli Choopulu, which still remains one of the best Telugu films of all time. Noted Tamil filmmaker Gautham Menon had purchased the remake rights of Pelli Choopulu in Tamil.
A couple of years ago, Gautham Menon announced that his long-time associate Senthil will bankroll the Tamil remake and he'd be funding the venture. In fact, he had even signed on Vishnu Vishal and Tamannaah to essay Vijay Deverakonda and Ritu Varma's roles respectively.
However, the remake had dropped due to insufficient funds and because Gautham Menon got stuck in a deep financial mess. The latest reports suggest that the film has taken over by a new team who will fund and direct the Tamil remake.
Harish Kalyan who proved himself in Bigg Boss will be reprising Vijay Deverakonda's role in Pelli Choopulu Tamil remake. His longtime friend Karthik will make his debut as a director in this venture. The technical crew comprises of composer Vishal Chandrasekar and cinematographer Krishnan Vasanth.
