Here are our best picks of MAMI 2019 Internatinal Film Festival

One of the popular film festivals of India, MAMI Mumbai International Film Festival got successfully concluded last night. The 21st edition of MAMI started on the 17th of this month and continued till yesterday. Many films from across the world had their screenings over these seven days of the festival.

There were a few festival favorites right when the schedule got announced. The first one among them is The Irishman, directed by Martin Scorsese. Even though the film will be out on Netflix next month, people thronged into the theatres to watch this three and a half-hour long crime drama. As expected, Scorsese knocked it out of the park with this one as well.

Honey Boy starring Lucas Hedges, Shia LaBeouf and Noah Jupe in the lead roles, is another gem that deserves all the acclaim. This film is one of the best dramas of this year. Then there is Ken Loach's Sorry We Missed You, which will move you into tears by the end of it.

Coming to the thrillers, French film Les Miserables takes the top position. This poignant thriller deserves all the hype it got and easily one of the best films this year. Romanian flick The Whistlers is also a good thriller to watch.

German film System Crasher is a weird and wacky comedy of a nine-year-old hyperactive girl, which is the best among the lot in the festival. This is a kind of film which we won't forget for a long time.

Ari Aster, who impressed with The Hereditary last year, came up with Midsommar this time. This weird horror-thriller gives you chills down the spine and it deserves a theatrical experience. These are some of the films that impressed us at MAMI.

Karan Patel opens up about his comparisons with Karan Singh Grover for their role as Mr. Bajaj in Kasautii; Read on

Karan Patel, who rose to fame with Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, is returning to the small screen with Kasautii Zindagii Kay. Karan will be playing the role of Mr. Bajaj which was earlier played by Karan Singh Grover. As KSG decided to leave the show, Patel bagged the show and recently his first look has been released by the makers. Opening up about being compared with Karan Singh Grover, Patel said, "The way I look at it, comparison na ho toh takleef ki baat hai. If a comparison is being made, it means you are doing something right. If that was not the case, why would anyone even compare, right? Comparison is good because that means you are getting your job done."

As the number of cases of Covid-19 is on a rise in Mumbai, Karan says he feels scared to resume shooting. "Of course, it is scary. When I go for a shoot, I will be meeting a lot of people and god forbid anyone is exposed to the virus. But, other than that you always have to be cautious. Whether we have a small kid in the family or not, it is important to be cautious and take precautions for your family. The moment you come home, one must take a warm water bath and wash the clothes. Before anything else, just wash your hands. Your immunity must be strong but not everyone has the same thing, so we just need to be prepared, " he added.

Meanwhile, Kasautii's other actors including Erica Fernandes, Parth Samthaan, Pooja Bannerjee and Shubhaavi have resumed shooting for the show.
