Hot Take: The Depp/Heard Trial, based on the six-week defamation trial of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, will detail all the drama surrounding the well-known case that ended in a verdict in June. Prior to its release, a trailer for the movie was made public, and it reveals the chaos that occurred during the infamous trial.
The Tubi original film, starring Mark Hapka and Megan Davis as Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, will be available for free viewing on Friday. Melissa Marty plays Camille Vasquez, Depp's attorney, in the movie's first trailer, and Mary Carrig plays Elaine Bredehoft, a member of Heard's legal team. Hapka may be seen doodling in the courtroom in the teaser while channeling Depp by dressing in the actor's courtroom eyeglasses outfit.
At one time, Davis' Heard is heard saying, "I'm so tired of this. I can't keep doing it", after leaving the courtroom. Flashbacks of their relationship are also shown in the trailer, including one where she asks him whether he is "jealous" of her co-star James Franco.
The Virginia jury found Amber Heard guilty of defaming Johnny Depp in her 2018 op-ed about domestic abuse, and the case against the two actors was over on June 1. Heard had won one of her three defamation claims and received a USD 2 million damage award, while the actor received a USD 10 million verdicts. Both of them are currently appealing the decisions. In a statement following the verdict, Depp said, "Six years later, the jury gave me my life back; Truth never perishes."
