Khushbu had said that she lost weight through exercise, hard work, and diet. Khushbu debuted as a child artist in the song "Teri Hai Zameen Tera Aasman" from the Hindi movie The Burning Train (1980). She appeared as a child actor in the Hindi films Naseeb, Laawaris, Kaalia, Dard Ka Rishta, and Bemisal between 1980 and 1985. With Venkatesh as his co-star in the Telugu film Kaliyuga Pandavulu (1986), Khushbu made his movie debut in South India. Her base was thereafter relocated to Chennai, where she began concentrating on the Tamil and other South Indian film industries. She has acted in more than 150 films after moving to the South. The actress has acted with Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Sathyaraj, Prabhu, Mammootty, Mohanlal, Suresh Gopi, and Jayaram.
