I Watch Movies With My Hard-Earned Money; Jude Antony In Response To Anjali Menon.

Director Anjali Menon's comment that critics need to know and learn more about the medium of cinema led to widespread discussion on social media platforms. Most of the responses were criticisms that the director was challenging the freedom of expression of the audience watching the film. Now director Jude Antony Joseph has come up with a response on this issue. Jude says that he did not take a course even to direct films. Jude's post did not mention Anjali Menon's name.

"I'm a moviegoer. I watch movies with my hard-earned money. I didn't take a course to study cinema, not even to direct a movie. Why not comment? You can't beat a good movie by writing about it. Similarly, you can’t write well about a bad movie and make it successful. As simple as that," Jude Anthony wrote on Facebook.

At the same time, Anjali Menon clarified that she was referring to critics rather than the general public. "I said how knowledge of the filmmaking process can be beneficial for professional film reviewing. I also gave an example of film journalist Udaya Tara Nair's reviewing method. I wanted professional reviewers to aim for more than that, while the audience themselves wrote interesting and detailed reviews. I have always appreciated the feedback and reviews of the audience. I believe that the audience has every right to express their opinion, good or bad, about the film they are watching. I also said in that interview that I was eagerly awaiting the comments from the audience. This note is to avoid confusion about what I said in the interview. Thank you," Anjali wrote.
