John Luthor, directed by newcomer Abhijit Joseph and starring Jayasurya, is making headway. The highlight of the film is Jayasurya's transformation into a police officer who is different from what he has done so far.
Jayasurya says that John Luther is a movie that has faced a lot of obstacles. Jayasurya said that the shooting stopped several times due to various reasons. Besides, one of the producers of the film had abandoned the film. He was speaking in an interview.
“The production of the film was set to start in 2020. The film was set to launch in April. Even before that, the title of the movie was a problem. The problem is that the movie Ancham Paathira did not come out then, and the name of the movie at that time was Ancham Pramaanam. Then came Ancham Paathira and changed the title to John Luther.
So in April, when the shooting was about to start, Covid arrived. So we sat idle for a year. After that, it went back to normal. Covid's second wave was when the shoot began and the set work began and ended;” said Jayasurya.
“Think about it, it's not a movie that can be put in a house. After all that, I sat down to start again. The cameraman gets sick when he thinks there is a no bigger obstacle to come. A month went by again.
Consider the matter of the producer. Every set we make, for some reason, will fall apart. Honestly, if it wasn't for Thomas, the producer, he would probably have dropped out. The point was that he had faith and love for that crew.
Ten days after the shooting started, again Covid (laughs). So another month went by. In the morning I would send a message to Abhi saying that I was very sick. He will send back a message saying that it is okay to rest.
I'll have a message again in the evening. Is there anything wrong with Chettan? I do not know. The point is that Covid has been positive for me too. So many obstacles. If there is anything which we have not faced, it is a meteorite falling, or a landslide; Jayasuriya said.
The movie was released on Friday on 150 screens in Kerala. John Luthor is one of Jayasurya's all-time great characters. Jayasurya's character is a man who suffers from hearing loss due to an injury sustained during a case investigation and struggles to survive it.
