2019 Korean film Parasite created history last Sunday by winning Best Picture at the Oscars. It is the first non-English film to win the Best Picture Award at the Academy. After receiving such a huge honor, Parasite has become the talk of the town. Meanwhile, down in South India, many Tamil people have claimed that it is a copy of Vijay's 1999 film Minsara Kanna. Many people rubbished these rumors but Minsara Kanna's producer PL Thenappan claimed it as true and assured that he will sue the producers of Parasite.
Speaking about it, Misara Kanna's director KS Ravikumar said that he didn't watch Parasite yet but added that he is happy that an Oscar-worthy film has got inspired by his film. He stated that filing the suit is up to the producer.
Minsara Kanna is the story of a man who comes into the house of heroine as a driver to win his love. Eventually, all his family members join him as workers at the heroine's house and help him in winning his girl. On the flip side, Parasite is the story of a poor class family entering into a rich household one by one. It discusses the class division in society.
Many netizens claimed that there is no similarity between the two films. Let's see how far PL Thenappan will stretch this controversy.
