Indian Psychiatric Society gets offended with the title Mental Hain Kya
Looks like Kangana Ranaut is darling of controversies. For one or other she is always linked to some controversy, she is again into the news with her upcoming freaky project. Mental Hain Kya, starring Rajkummar Rao and Kangana in lead roles makers had released new poster by confirming the release date in which the lead cast posing with tongues wide open with the blade. This freaky poster not only raised curiosity and excitement in the Bollywood but also welcomed one new controversy at their door-step. Indian Psychiatric Society gets offended with the title of Mental Hain Kya, as they did not hold in regard to the title.
They had sent a written statement to CBFC, they ordered to change the title of the film as it clearly offends the people with mental illness. The statement states 'We take serious objections to the title of the movie which is discriminative, stigmatising, degrading, and inhumane in projecting mental disorders and people who suffer from mental disorders. We strongly demand that the title be removed with immediate effect preventing further damage to the modesty of mental health service users. We also demand to censor any sequence in the movie that is violating the rights of persons with mental disorder'.
Balaji Motion Pictures makers of the film came up with a counter statement saying we have the intention of offending the people with mental illness. The official statement reads as 'The makers would like to maintain that Mental Hai Kya is a fictional thriller genre feature film meant to entertain audiences and it does not offend, discriminate or disregard any person. In fact, the film is a mainstream entertainer which makes a larger point'.
Mental Hain Kya movie is produced by Ekta Kapoor under Balaji Motion Pictures which ready to hit the theatres on Jun 21st.
